Remember the old saying: "Time flies when you're having fun"? As a kid, we used to think summertime just went on forever. When school let out the fall seemed like a lifetime away. We'd play outside, go swimming at the pool, maybe take a road trip with our families, or go to camp. Each day felt so much longer.
As we get older, time sure does seem to fly by. I can't believe it's July already. We are more than halfway through 2010. But, are we having fun? Sometimes I think time feels like actually the opposite when I'm having fun. When I'm really engaged in something time feels like it is going by slower. Perhaps this is because I'm experiencing each moment to it's fullest. Children do this all the time, so for them it makes sense that time seems to go by slower.
If time really isn't changing from the time we are a kid to the time we are an adult maybe it's as simple as changing our attitude about how we spend our time. If we slow ourselves down to relish the moment, we just might regain the feeling that we have all the time in the world to do everything we want.
The best thing about this is we can start right now.
