Road Trip Plans

Tim and I are buying a house! Yes, our first house ever. I was going to say home, but really a home can be any place that you make your own. I can't wait to get into our new space and make it ours.

I never thought this whole experience would be like it has been. When people said to expect the ups and downs they weren't kidding. I'll just be happy to get our things into the space and arrange everything just how we want it.

We are also planning a road trip out west. We leave in two weeks! Tim asked me the other night if I thought we were crazy to do all this the same month we close on our house. I said, yup, but we're going to do it anyway.

I think we need to get out of town and take a break from things. The past few months have been stressful looking for a house and all, and we haven't really taken a trip together in quite a while. This shall be an adventure.

We plan to get to Rapid City, SD the first day, which is about a 10 hour drive. We'll stop at the Corn Palace in Mitchell and then head on down to the Black Hills and up to Wall Drug. After that we'll stay our first night in Rapid City.

The next day we'll explore around there and see things like the Mammoth site in Hot Springs and drive along the scenic byways. We'll also try our hand at panning for gold and if the timing is right see a presidential wax museum that is sure to create a funny memory. We'll finish that day with Mt. Rushmore and the light show they do around 9PM.

The third day will be heading down to Cheyenne, WY to see Devils Tower and a few other sites yet to be planned. Colorado is next for two days and then we'll head East to Kansas and finish our trip with a Twins game.

We'd love to go white water rafting and maybe stop at a winery. I also have a couple friends in and around the Denver area and we hope to meet up with them sometime.

It should be a great trip and a much needed diversion from getting overwhelmed with the big change of moving that is coming our way.

Thank goodness for AAA triptik planner that is free online at AAA.com. That sure made planning and organizing our trip easy! Can't wait to share how I'll organize our move next.
